UES recently completed a Bat Scoping Survey of a residential property in Bramhall, Stockport, Greater Manchester. Our client is applying for planning permission to demolish the property and construct two semi-detached houses in its place.
The aim of the survey was the assess the building for the potential presence of bat roosts and bat activity within the structure. The building was searched both externally and internally by a licensed bat ecologist for features associated with bat activity, as detailed in Bat Conservation Trust guidance (2007).
A low number of low potential features were found within the building, however, all features could be fully inspected with an endoscope for evidence of roosting bats, and the features were all found to be superficial. Furthermore, no evidence of breeding birds was associated with the building. As such, the client was able to acquire planning permission without the need for further ecology surveys.
