UES completed bat presence / absence surveys of a farm outbuilding, which is to be converted to a residential dwelling, in Rixton-with-Glazebrook, Warrington, Cheshire in 2018. The surveys found a single brown long-eared bat roost used by one bat, and a single common pipistrelle roost used by two bats.
Due to the low number of common UK species found roosting within the farm building, the development qualified to be registered under the Bat Mitigation Class Licence (BMCL). The BMCL allows registered consultants to licence sites meeting certain criteria, which allows for a quicker and more efficient licensing process. UES Managing Director Toby Hart is one of a low number of registered consultants in the north west and is able to provide this streamlined licensing process for our clients.
UES successfully applied for a BMCL and, in combination with a Method Statement designed to outline the mitigation and compensation measures required to safeguard bats throughout the development, completed the works in July 2019.
