Several members of the UES team were out today with Cheshire Bat Group (CBG) andĀ helped to monitor bat boxes in Marbury Park. Our team members are all licenced tree climbers and can access a tree using a rope and harness and carry out aerial rescue operations. This enables us to carry out aerial tree inspections, which is useful for this monitoring project!

Cheshire Bat Group have monitored Marbury Park for a number of years and the information provided is important for research and conservation purposes. A relatively mild winter has potentially enabled bats to rouse from hibernation earlier than they would otherwise have. It was a successful day given it is still early in the year and we found lots of common noctule (Nyctalus noctula) and common pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus).
