Two of our UES staff were volunteering with Cheshire Bat Group in January installing a total of 40 bat boxes at Alderley Park, Alderley Edge. The bat boxes are required as part of the mitigation for a nearby development but Cheshire Bat Group volunteered to install the bat boxes so that they can continue to monitor this area of the county, which is known to have lots of bats nearby!
Monitoring projects like these play a really important role in estimating population trends of our bats. They are also essential for promoting and supporting conservation of these fascinating animals.
