UES are a leading independent ecological consultancy operating throughout the UK. We specialise in managing large complex projects, where ecological issues can pose significant risks to development timelines and budgets.
We provide a comprehensive ecology service, from baseline surveys to impact assessments, habitat creation and management, and expert witness advice. Our ecologists are experienced in surveying, licensing, and mitigating for a wide range of protected species and habitats.
Our client base includes developers, planners, architects, engineers, homeowners and local planning authorities, mostly as a result of repeat business and recommendations.
We’ve got the knowledge and skills you need to meet your legislative, planning and contractual requirements, without spending more than you need to.
Our ecologists are licenced by Natural England, Natural Resources Wales and Nature Scot to survey for bats and great crested newts, meaning we are legally allowed to disturb and handle these species.
UES’ Managing Director, Toby Hart, is a registered consultant of Natural England’s Bat Mitigation Class Licence (BMCL). This allows us to deliver a quicker and cheaper licensing service on certain projects where the conservation importance of the roost is low.
Our ecologists are members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), who promote the highest standards of practice through a professional code of conduct and continuing professional development (CPD).
Our ecologists are also certified by Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland (BSBI) to undertake preliminary ecological appraisals (aka phase 1 habitat surveys), as well as more complex botanical surveys.
